During the time Troop 802 has existed, we have been fortunate to help many scouts earn the rank of Eagle Scout. As part of the Transatlantic Council, our scouts have earned their Eagle rank across several continents, and we would like to take a moment to recognize 802's ability to connect scouts and help them advance, regardless of where they live.
Troop 802 was founded in December 2019. Since then, over 40 scouts have earned their Eagles! We would like to acknowledge the troop's commitment through the years, continuing to scout regardless of challenges such as the COVID Pandemic.
As an international troop, our Eagles have completed their Eagle Projects around the world, spreading the ideals of scouting as they go. If you would like to see a map of where the projects were completed, click here.

"I helped spur interest in family history research on FamilySearch.org within my local church congregation! I gathered a group together for a small instruction event on how to perform indexing (matching names in records to profiles), and we set a goal for how many names we could reach by the end of the month. We did rather well, and although I wasn't able to carry out my dream Eagle Project due to COVID-19 restrictions and a tight schedule, it was still a great service opportunity that also allowed our community to connect."

"My Eagle Scout project was designing and building a community garden at the US Embassy in Tajikistan. In Tajikistan it is difficult to find good fresh produce, and it is difficult and time consuming to have personal gardens. I met with the Facilities Manager to ask permission and get an idea of what I could and couldn't do. There was already a greenhouse that the Ambassador used, so we got permission to make two plots next to it. We worked with the Community Liaison Office to get the word out and find volunteers. Additionally, we used connections to have the head gardener for a hotel in the city come help us out.
When the day came to make the garden, we had a lot of people show up were quickly able to prepare the two plots. When the head gardener came, we initially thought he would just be explaining gardening, but he brought with him plants and seeds for us to plant. He walked everyone through the planting process and explained what the community needed to do to ensure that the garden would turn out. While we only had planned for a community garden ready to be planted, we ended up with a garden that was planted and ready to be nurtured."

"I built a container using PVC pipes and canvas tarps for the Elementary School PE department to store their foam blocks. The container had to have multiple entries so students and teachers could easily access and then put away the foam blocks. The container was on wheels so it could be easily moved to different locations."

Eagle Project Description:
"For my Eagle Project, I led a team of 16 people to build nature education trails for our community. This project took two months and was completed with hand tools. The completed project included two trails and a circular clearing that we leveled and planted with grass. For the trails, we made plaques with the names of the different trees for people to learn about nature identification.
The goal of this project was to provide a recreational area for my community. I live in rural Mozambique, and services such as parks, libraries, museums, and other recreational facilities are not available. In addition to this, the trails also highlight the importance of environmental education and preservation.
Getting to lead and be a part of this project was incredible! During the completion, we encountered many challenges such as language barriers, poor weather, and exciting wildlife. The project challenged me more than almost anything else I had ever done, but the reward was worth it. By the end, I had grown in my knowledge of teamwork and planning and had provided something valuable for my community. Completing an Eagle project is like climbing a mountain: It is a hard journey to the summit, but once you reach the top, the view is like nothing you have seen before."

Eagle Project Description:
"For my Eagle Scout Project, I led the planning and execution of a community service initiative to refurbish and revitalize the playground at a local school for children with special needs. The playground was outdated and partially unusable, limiting students’ ability to safely engage in outdoor play. Recognizing the importance of inclusive and accessible spaces for child development, I set out to transform the area into a safer, more functional environment tailored to the students’ needs.
I managed the project end-to-end, including designing the improvement plan, sourcing materials, coordinating volunteers, and overseeing on-site construction. Working in a community where English was not the primary language, I navigated communication barriers by collaborating closely with school staff and local volunteers to ensure the project met the school’s expectations. Over multiple workdays, we repaired and repainted equipment, reinforced structures, and reorganized the space to improve safety and accessibility.
This project strengthened my leadership, problem-solving, and project management skills while reinforcing my commitment to service and inclusion. Beyond the physical transformation of the playground, the project created a lasting positive impact by providing students with a welcoming space that supports play, confidence, and social interaction. Completing this project was a defining experience that demonstrated my ability to lead diverse teams, adapt to challenges, and turn a community need into meaningful action."

"My Eagle Scout Project involved both a fundraising effort via Kickstarter and a distribution of Anti-Landmine Identification Kits. These kits contained teaching aides, which would be given to various volunteers affiliated with the Mine Action Group (MAG) and HALO Trust organisation. These volunteers would distribute these kits to local communities, particularly vulnerable individuals such as children, pastoralists, and similar. The interactive objects inside the kits could be examined, in conjunction with lectures and explanations of what the items were, for a more wholesome and thorough education."

"For my Eagle service project, I combined my passion for the environment with my desire to give back and educate others. I designed and built beehives for my school, sourcing a local colony of bees and organizing a team of classmates and friends to help with construction and painting. This project grew into something even more meaningful when I launched and now lead a weekly after-school Bee Club, where I mentor younger students in the care and keeping of bees while teaching them about their critical role in sustaining our environment.
Earning the rank of Eagle Scout has been the highlight of my Scouting journey. I will forever hold close the memories, skills, and adventures I’ve gained over the past 11 years, and I am grateful for the opportunities Scouting has given me to lead, serve, and grow."
